the broken chain...
Broken Chain
Once it was a rainbow
A motley of colours
A different people
Brought together in a chain.
A chain of gold
So precious and rare
We got together, the puzzle was complete
Assured it would last, and that. I believed
Believed to be unbreakable
Fell to bit in a matter of time
A jewel once unforgettable
That fast, lost its shine
Once so happy, we shared joy and pain
The laughter we’ve had, memories we’ve gained,
A bond so close nobody can intrude
But as time passes, its bond, gone loose.
Trickling sand of an hourglass
Time itself counted the seconds pass
Acid on stone, eating away
Friendship gone cold, forgotten yesterday.
As time passed, our lives has changed,
People entering the circle we’ve made
Though some held on, it was all in vain
Holding on to the chain that was sure to break
Looking back on sweet memories
Facing the pain of today
Remembering what was
Trying to hold on to what is
Hope and wishes fading…
For what will be.
