my newfound family in KL!
Yes its been a long long time since I've blogged. Honestly was reminded that my blog still existed by Cheryll yesterday when she said she's updated hers. As my first post after more than one year, I'd like to introduce my newfound family in KL. Whereby without them I would be still as miserable lonely and bored as I was in Year One. To introduce, I'd show you first, my favourite picture of us. One where i experienced the best of what having a team is like.
Zest Team 2013 :)
I've been in Zest Martial Arts for about 2 years now and through all the tournaments that we went and hosted, I've gotten to experience what it means to have a team in sports. All this while, I've been maintaining my passion for tae-kwondo on my own, and just when it was about to die off, i found them.
In this 2 years with them, I grew in my skills for pattern and knowledge. Enough that I'd taken my 3rd degree black belt on the 6th of June 2014, an achievement i wouldn't have been able to do alone. Now a 3rd degree black belt, I'm determined to learn more and hopefully by 2015 have my own students and team.
A short story on how I came across Zest; In a juniour championship event in Penang where I attended as judge, I asked Mr.Boon to introduce me to a center in KL whereby i can continue training as at that time, I;ve just gotten my 2nd dan and haven't had a chance to wear it. At that time, the guest of honour at that event happened to be standing next to Mr.Boon and he was pointed out to me as an Instructor from KL. So i got is name card and went to look up more on Zest.
my first look at members of Zest
I was extremely reluctant to go as i was unfamilliar with the area (Kepong) and there was no one i knew and worst of all, they were a mandrin-speaking team. But being alone in KL, with barely any friends, bored and homesick, I called them out of pure-desperation and dengan stupid-nya GPS-ed my way to Kepong. Got lost and finally called Mr.Andy to ask for directions. Got lost again and called a few times. I think at one point they couldnt stand it anymore and sent Mr.Ivan to drive over and come guide me to their center. arriving there, i saw 5 black-belts training. excluding the instructor, Andy. Extremely intimidated and nervous, i trained with them. Over a course of 3-6 months I somehow bucked-up on my Mandarin and got closer to them. The closer i was, the more included i felt in Zest Team. What really got me closer to them was really b4 the 2nd Asia Championship that we hosted. We enrolled in team pattern, and with all the additional training towards that tournament and the preparations, I got to know more of them and they got to know more of me. :)

Didn't get much photos of that tournament though.. cuz we were too busy working. :)
But after that, they came over to Penang to visit. And we took a bunch of photos by the beach! (although Andy couldn't come) here are some that i love!
And those were the initial big events that we had together. The others after were the Sarawak Master class, BOB competition, Penang Master class, SMD competition, Kluang Malaysia Open, My 3rd dan grading, Winli and GC's 2nd dan grading, all the other grading and Zest's 3rd and 4th Anniversary. These stories however, will come when i feel like typing again. For now, the stories of my beginning with them is enough :)
